Welcome Greeting to all our Guests

On Behalf of the Treaty & York Boat Days Committee and Norway House Cree Nation staff, I would like to extend my greetings to our visitors, friends and family to our Treaty Days & 35th Annual York Boat Days.

We are inviting you to take part in some of our cultural events, family events, see the biggest country talent showcase in Manitoba, our World Championship of York Boat Rowing, the Voyageur Canoe Races and much more. This week will bring many families, friends together and many will develop new friendship through friendly competition.

We like to acknowledge our sponsors for their generous contribution to the Festival and of course the hard work of our staff and committee members, tirelessly coordinating their events and ensuring that all participants have a safe and an enjoyable time. We would like to acknowledge the Fire Fighters for the quick response during our community fire and congratulate them for taking the Provincial Native Fire Fighters Championship once again.

We also have athletes competing in the 2008 North American Indigenous Games in Cowichan, BC. during the Treaty & York Boat Days. They will be away during our festival and we wish them all the best of luck and safe journey for the following: Sonny Albert, Badminton; Denise Hastings, Shelby Sinclair, Roy Ettawacappo Jr. & Skylar Tait-Reaume for Softball: Murray Ettawacappo for Baseball; Bradley Ettawacappo, Ed Sandberg Jr., Jordan Omand, & Adrian Cook for Baseball; and Lydia Morrisseau in Soccer.

Thanks to all key staff members who work hundreds of hours to make this event a reality. We hope that all Elders, Youth, citizens of Norway House and our special visitors across the Province and neighboring Provinces/States enjoy your stay in Norway House.
